Lauren George

For the past 7 years at C&V, Lauren has helped clients obtain approvals for dozens of rezonings and entitlements that enabled thousands of new apartments to be built. With a background in urban planning, Lauren helps development teams engage with community and political stakeholders to create the best possible projects that are good for New York. Primarily focused on land use and development projects, Lauren guides clients on navigating the politics of community development, namely through multifamily, affordable and supportive housing. She has extensive experience navigating agencies like HPD, DCP, the MTA and DOB.  Her other areas of focus include sustainability, waste policy and small business support.  Before C&V Lauren was Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, working closely with City Hall, elected officials at all levels and community groups to balance historic preservation with development. She was chief of staff to a NYC Council Member, where she directed the budget and legislative agenda, and negotiated key initiatives such as Domestic Violence and Immigrant Services. Lauren lives in Brooklyn with her family. Bilingual Spanish-English, she has a Master of Urban Planning (MUP) from Hunter-CUNY and a BA from Macalester College.
